If you haven’t heard the name,
you’ve definitely seen the images.
With a career spanning over 65 years Elliott Erwitt has had the chance to capture a variety of subjects, though he is best know for his tongue-in-cheek images that portray everyday quirky situations.
His humorous approach is the more obvious reason why I admire his work. The other would be a strong attraction to the technical style of his photography. I love the the strong focal point of his images, as well as the simplicity that black and white brings out. It reminds me of when I fell in love with photography. I shot 35mm black and white film and carried my camera with me everywhere, taking pictures whatever might catch my eye.
It leaves me thinking…
Perhaps it’s time to revisit those days.
“PHOTOGRAPHY IS AN ART OF OBSERVATION. IT HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH THE THINGS YOU SEE AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE WAY YOU SEE THEM.” – Elliott Erwitt
